No Saturated Fat, No Cholesterol , No MSG, Gluten Free
Soaking Methods: soak lentils overnight in 3 to 4 cups cold water. Drain and rinse lentils (soaking over night is not required but shortens the cook time; if you choose not to soak lentils make sure you still rinse before cooking).

In a 5 quart pot, combine lentils and flavor packet with 8 cups water then bring to a boil. Cover and boil until lentils are tender. Add more water if necessary. At this time you may add pieces of ham if desired.

Rating Hearty and Delicious
This is our staple winter soup, but we eat it all year around. I have been a repeat buyer since 2003. If you love lentil soup, try this one. Add your sausage or ham, corn muffins and you have a great meal. I always keep a few of these on hand.

My wife likes to puree half of the beans to make a thicker consistency. Then she adds a little tomato juice. It's absolutely delicious. Corn muffins suggested by another reviewer are a great idea.
